Banana Ball hijinks are headed back to Huntington Park next summer.
State of play: It won't be the famous Savannah Bananas, but we'll see two affiliated teams that play the same brand of wacky baseball.
- The Party Animals will take on the Texas Tailgaters on Aug. 6-7.
Yes, but: Banana Ball is wildly popular. If you want a chance to go, sign up for the ticket lottery by the end of October and cross your fingers.
The intrigue: Games involve dancing umpires, trick plays and novelty rules.
While players rehearse stunts and comedy bits, the baseball action itself is competitive and unscripted.
- The Party Animals promise to bring the "greatest party in sports," while the Tailgaters are known for country music and line dancing.
Zoom out: The Bananas play in Cleveland in June and Cincinnati in July.
- Two more affiliated teams head to Dayton in August.
- The same ticket lottery applies.
