Oliver and Charlotte are Ohio's most popular baby names for the fourth year in a row, according to Social Security card applications submitted at birth.
Zoom in: Per usual, our top 10 list differs a bit from national trends.
- Our state loves Lainey (No. 8 in Ohio, No. 30 in the U.S) and Hudson (No. 6 in Ohio, No. 17 in the U.S.).
- We're less into Mateo (No. 69 in Ohio, No. 8 in the U.S.) and Eliana (No. 35 in Ohio, No. 10 in the U.S.).
The big picture: Liam and Olivia are the country's top names for the seventh year in a row.
- The national top 10 ranking didn't change drastically from 2024.
The intrigue: Two K names are considered the fastest-risers of last year, according to the SSA.
- For boys: Kasai, which means "fire" in Japanese and Swahili.
- For girls: Klarity, an altered spelling of "clarity."
Between the lines: The lists don't group different spellings together, so some names are more popular than they might seem.
- For example, Sophia (No. 3) and Sofia (No. 49) combined would be Ohio's top girl name.
