Weekend picks: Sonic Temple is back

The intrigue: Sonic Temple, formerly known as Rock on the Range, has become one of the state's biggest music events, drawing massive headliner acts and tens of thousands of rock fans.

• This year, it's headlined by My Chemical Romance (which played Thursday night), Tool, Shinedown and Bring Me The Horizon, with dozens of recognizable acts over four days.

Plus: The festival has added art elements like "paint battles," drawing experiences and cartooning lessons.

Between the lines: The festival is such a draw (and an infrastructure challenge) that it dominates Columbus' weekend schedule.

🎺 Music Columbus kicks off its Gift of Music instrument drive, which runs through May 24.

🏴‍☠️ Buckeye Lake Piratefest features food, vendors, treasure hunts and other activities all weekend long.
