👋 Andrew here. Saturday marks the Crew home opener, and the 2026 team is debuting a renamed stadium, a refreshed roster and a handful of new concessions options.
Driving the news: At a preseason media event, the team showed off a dozen new food items and a pair of new signature drinks.
- I ranked the food I tried:
10) Stuffing arancini: I wanted to like this creative idea — a "fried risotto ball" filled with brie, cranberry, provolone and a cranberry chutney — but it felt like a strange little Thanksgiving dumpling.
- Find it at Patio 96 and in the River Club and Bread Financial Club.
9) Sweet potato tacos: These are filled with Tajin-spiced sweet potato, cotija cheese, salsa and an avocado-lime crema that kind of overpowered the taco. I found the mushy texture of a taco filled with sweet potato to be a bit off-putting.
- Find it at Sideline Cantina, section 129.
8) "Match Day Lemonade" cotton candy: A partnership with Columbus' Cotton Sugar Co., this bright yellow cotton candy is extraordinarily sweet and it's hard to place the lemonade flavor, which comes across a little sciency.
- Find it at Market 96, sections 106, 125, 128, and suite desserts.
7) Schmidt's beer-braised bratwurst: This brat is about what you'd expect from the German institution, but I didn't find it to be anything special — it came on a pretzel roll loaded with beer cheese and french-fried onions.
- Find it at the Sandwich Shop, section 107.
6) Italian beef "Battle Nachos:" Combining nachos with the classic Italian beef sandwich — beef, queso, sweet peppers and giardiniera on a chip — works surprisingly well.
- Find it at the Sidelina Nacho, section 105.
5) The Italian Village: A partnership with the legendary Carfagna's, this straightforward meatball sub features the market's meatballs and marinara with Italian cheese. Tasty if not amazing.
- Find it at the Sandwich Shop, section 107.
4) Buckeye "Crewnut": A cronut covered in black and gold frosting. What's not to love?
- Find it in the suite desserts, River Club and Bread Financial Club.
3) Street corn salad: I know, I know — who wants a salad at a game? But this kind of blew me away, with greens, corn, tomatoes, cheese and a surprisingly spicy aji verde dressing.
- Find it at Market 96 and the suites.
2) The Big Bella: An absolutely delicious mortadella and mozzarella sandwich on surprisingly fantastic focaccia that reminded me more of Piazza Pelino than a soccer game.
- Find it at the Sandwich Shop, section 107.
1) Chicken cutlet sandwich: The best sandwich in the building is locked in the expensive seats. With a crispy chicken cutlet, vodka sauce, burrata cheese and a cherry pepper relish, I would order this thing from any restaurant.
- Find it in the suites.
🍹 Plus: I tried the root beer "Dirty Soda" and the Smokestack Cocktail, and both are excellent.
- The root beer would be my pick, though the lemonade-inspired Smokestack will be a fun summer drink.
