Grove City spot is becoming a local pho favorite

It seems everyone has been nursing a cold lately, including me. So this week's international food recommendation is a warm, comforting taste of Vietnam.
Dining the news: Central Ohio has no shortage of pho options, but GC Pho near Grove City is quickly becoming a local favorite.
- "I swear they kidnapped [someone's] Vietnamese grandma and brought her here," one Redditor quipped.
- That's an endorsement I couldn't ignore.
The vibes: It's a quiet, understated storefront near Walmart offering quick, friendly table service and takeout.
Dig in: I tried the GC Pho Special ($20), a soup with rice noodles, green and white onions, and three types of beef — brisket, meatballs and black angus eye of round.
- I topped it with bean sprouts, a squeeze of lime juice and a few jalapeños.
- There are optional condiments, but the broth was so savory it didn't need any.
Best bites: I'm a big fan of Vietnamese spring rolls, and these are among my favorites ($7).
- The cold appetizer of shrimp, pork, lettuce and rice noodles is wrapped inside transparent rice paper and served with peanut dipping sauce.
The bottom line: The food soothed my sore throat and my soul.
