👋 Tyler here, channeling his inner Clark Griswold to suggest you visit the Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum the next time you're down near Hocking Hills.
Flashback: Johnson spent his retirement years collecting thousands of sharpeners in his shed.
- After he died in 2010, the display moved to the Hocking Hills Regional Welcome Center off Route 33.
Zoom in: There's the vintage manual sharpeners you remember from school — perfect for those classic Ticonderoga No. 2 pencils.
- But Johnson found so many others featuring city skylines, comic book characters, sports teams and more.
If you go: 9am-5pm Monday-Saturday, 11am-5pm Sunday. 13178 Route 664, Logan, about a 45-minute drive from Columbus. Free!
- I also suggest stopping for lunch at the nearby Olde Dutch restaurant.
