Since Sheetz made-to-order food is apparently the "Coolest thing Made in PA," we stopped in for a first-timer taste test.
😬 Spoiler alert: We have … thoughtz.
Andrew's take: I tried reader recommendations: A meatball sub on a pretzel roll with fryz ($5) and chicken BLT ranch shnack wrapz ($7 with add-ons).
- The sub was not good. I ate two bites and waved the white flag.
- Without bacon — Sheetz forgot — the wraps were pretty sad. I could have recreated this with a Tyson chicken tender and 25 cents of supplies.
- Fryz are … fries.
Alissa's take: I had a bacon-and-egg breakfast sandwich with mini hashbrowns ($7) and an iced sh'mores latte ($4). The crispy hashbrowns were good. The rest was forgettable.
- Plus: An uninspiring app sampler ($7) featuring mac and cheese bitez, mozzarella sticks and (burnt) boneless bitez.
- The berry lemonade with popping bubbles ($5) tasted like candy, but not in a good way.
The bottom line: If compared to other gas stations — admittedly, a low bar — maybe it's not that bad.
- But it's still just gas station food. If you're not road tripping, we don't think it's worth the drive.
