Central Ohio is Amazon's third-largest data center hub in the nation.
The big picture: We're only topped by northern Virginia, the "data center capital of the world," and a slightly larger cluster in Oregon.
Zoom out: We also boast the country's fifth-largest concentration of centers overall, behind Northern Virginia, San Francisco, Chicago and Dallas, per Axios' research.
- Amazon's local infrastructure investments are a big factor contributing to the industry's explosive growth in our region.
What we're watching: Amazon announced plans last year to invest another $10 billion toward building centers elsewhere in the state.
- The first will be in Fayette County, near Honda's planned EV battery plant.
The other side: Microsoft recently paused a $1 billion expansion plan for Licking County because of "demand signals."
