Caught up in the chaos of being a new parent, apparently I completely missed Dubai chocolate bars going viral last year.
Driving the news: Juice Time, a new chain known for its Dubai chocolate desserts, is coming soon to my neck of the woods on Hilliard-Rome Road.
- In the meantime, I stopped by Al-Aqsa Sweets to see what all the fuss is about.
- The local Middle Eastern bakery has been around for 15 years, long before its treats became trendy.
Zoom in: The rich milk chocolate bars ($8-16) are filled with knafeh (a buttery, sweet dessert containing crunchy shredded pastry dough) mixed with pistachio.
- Al-Aqsa also sells cups of chocolate mixed with strawberries topped with the filling ($15-25).
- Of course I tried both.
💠My thought bubble: Don't sleep on the strawberry cups, which are just as headline-worthy.
- Yes, they're pricy. Yes, they're indulgent. Treat yo self.
