New Franklin County property tax bills now ready

How it works: Search for your property. Your new annual bill is listed under "tax summary."

• If you pay twice yearly, half of this amount is what you'll owe by Jan. 31.
• If you use an escrow account, divide by 12 to calculate how much you'll now pay into it monthly.
• Click the "payments" tab to compare to previous years.

Meanwhile, you can use the Franklin County auditor's website to track how your home value changed.

• Search for your property, then click the "value history" tab.
• You can also see how your taxes are distributed.

😬 Alissa's thought bubble: As an example of what you can anticipate, my yearly taxes increased about 17% from 2023. Columbus' new library levy contributed a bit.

• But mostly to blame: my home's value jumped 46% — slightly higher than a countywide average of 40%, per the auditor's office.
• The average tax increase countywide is 12%, which includes new levies approved last year.

Pro tip: If you believe your reappraisal is inaccurate, the Franklin County Board of Revision is accepting complaints through April 1.
