Paul McCartney and Wings to take flight at the Rock Hall

For the first time, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is launching an exhibit focused on the band Paul McCartney formed after leaving the Beatles.

Driving the news: The exhibit, "Paul McCartney and Wings," opens May 15 and focuses on the 1970s group consisting of McCartney (vocals/bass), his wife Linda McCartney (keyboards), Denny Laine of the Moody Blues (guitar/vocals) and Denny Seiwell (drums).

The intrigue: The showcase will feature never-before-displayed artifacts, including band members' instruments, touring wardrobe, handwritten lyrics, photographs and archival video.

"Paul McCartney and Wings" replaces the recently closed "Bon Jovi: Forever" exhibit that opened two years ago.

The Rock Hall is hosting an early screening of "Man on the Run," the new documentary on Wings, this Saturday at 7pm.

💭 Troy's thought bubble: McCartney has been inducted into the Rock Hall twice — first as a Beatle in 1988 and again as a solo artist in 1999.

The Wings exhibit could set the stage for McCartney to someday become only the second three-time inductee (Eric Clapton).
