Cincinnati's Rhinegeist Brewery has overtaken Great Lakes as the best-selling craft brewery in Ohio, per an Axios analysis of Brewers Association data.
The big picture: Sales dipped at many of Northeast Ohio's breweries last year, part of a larger economic trend making the industry go flat.
Zoom in: Rhinegeist's 7% growth was enough to overtake Great Lakes, whose sales fell by 1%.
Fat Head's was the only local brewery in the statewide top 10 to see sales growth in 2024.
💭 Sam's thought bubble: Rhinegeist's flagship IPA, Truth, is one of the most popular beers available on draft in Cleveland, so I'm not surprised to see this development.
Stunning stat: Central Ohio's BrewDog recorded a whopping 26% increase year-over-year as it continues to expand its international footprint.
The latest: The City of Cleveland is currently putting on a "full-court press" to keep Great Lakes in Cleveland as the brewery explores a site in suburban Westlake for a new, expanded production facility, NEOtrans reports.
Meanwhile, the Ohio City brewpub spruced up its menu and interior decor in May.
