Great Lakes Brewing Co. closes brewpub for revamp

What they're saying: "Just as we've innovated and evolved our beer offerings over the years, we must do the same with our brewpub to attract new guests and retain what's already worked well for us over three decades," general manager Ashley Likavec said in a statement.

Zoom in: The menu is being reimagined by executive chef Chris Suntala, who plans to incorporate locally sourced ingredients across snacks, small plates and entrees.

Between the lines: The indoor-outdoor beer garden will be spruced up with gallery walls, photo opps, and greenery to highlight the brewery's history of eco-friendliness.

• New TVs and high-end bourbons are coming to the basement "cellar" bar as well.

Stop by: A soft launch is planned for May 14. Great Lakes plans to tap a new "hot honey-inspired" ale featuring honey from Ohio City Farm and Frayed Knot Farm.
