The "People's Flag of Cleveland" is here

• The "C" for Cleveland encircles a six-pointed star, a reference to Cleveland's moniker as the Sixth City and a nod to the six images on the original flag.
• The blue field on the right-hand side symbolizes Lake Erie, while the red stripe pays homage to the city's rust belt heritage.

By the numbers: The design was one of four finalists and selected through public voting.

• It received an average rating of 6.8 out of 10, more than two points higher than the other options, according to organizers.

What they're saying: "The creativity of the Cleveland community is one of our greatest strengths, as evidenced by the incredible participation that we received in the design contest," the Flag Project's Brian Lachman and Josh Harkleroad said in a statement.

• "'The People's Flag of Cleveland' is more than a symbol — it represents our city's unity, resilience, and what it means to be from 'The Land.'"

Between the lines: There are no plans by Cleveland City Council to adopt the flag, but organizers hope it will be embraced by locals as a symbol of civic pride.
