Being a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee puts you in rarified air, but there's an even more exclusive club within the museum.
Driving the news: ABC will air a highlight special of the 2024 Rock Hall ceremony at 8pm on New Year's Day.
- This year's class included Ozzy Osbourne as a solo artist, making him a two-time inductee after having been honored as a member of Black Sabbath in 2006.
The intrigue: Twenty-seven performers have been inducted into the Rock Hall multiple times.
- So, who will be next? Here is a look at the next likeliest candidates to join the two-time club.
Phil Collins
Inducted with: Genesis (2010)
Some people probably think Collins — one of the biggest stars of the 1980s — has already been inducted as a solo artist, but he has never even been nominated.
Diana Ross
Inducted with: The Supremes (1988)
Only three women (Stevie Nicks, Tina Turner and Carole King) have been inducted twice.
- Ross, who set the blueprint for the modern pop diva, surprisingly isn't one of them.
Eric Burdon
Inducted with: The Animals (1994)
You have to like Burdon's chances since his other legendary band, War, has been nominated three times but failed to earn enough votes for induction.
Ben E. King
Inducted with: The Drifters (1988)
King was nominated as a solo artist three times in the 1980s, but hasn't made the ballot again after being inducted with The Drifters.
Dr. Dre

Inducted with: N.W.A. (2016)
Dre could become the first two-time hip-hop inductee, thanks to his status as one of the most important producers in music history.
Sting
Inducted with: The Police (2003)
The nominating committee felt Sting's solo career was Rock Hall-worthy when it nominated him in 2015. Voters disagreed.
Matt Cameron
Inducted with: Pearl Jam (2017)
Cameron has drummed for two of the biggest grunge bands of all time — Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, which has been nominated twice.
Lionel Richie
Inducted: Solo (2022)
Richie's solo induction may have come at the expense of The Commodores, the influential funk band that put him on the map in the 1970s.
Ian McDonald
Inducted with: Foreigner (2024)
McDonald just earned induction with Foreigner but could hear his name called again if the Rock Hall finally nominates prog-rock band King Crimson, which he co-founded.
Joe Walsh
Inducted with: Eagles (1988)
Take your pick, James Gang or solo.
- Walsh fans, especially those in Northeast Ohio (where he started his career), would love to see him honored again.
Joan Jett
Inducted with: Joan Jett & the Blackhearts (2015)
Jett became a bona fide rock star fronting her own band in the 1980s, but was previously a member of groundbreaking all-girl band The Runaways, who have yet to be nominated.
