Cleveland is one of "America's Best Halloweentowns," according to FinanceBuzz, and there are plenty of ways to celebrate this weekend.
Why it matters: Even if you think Ohio is a creepy place to live year-round, that sentiment takes on new life this season.
- Ohio is also the 10th most generous state when it comes to handing out Halloween candy, per a study by savings website CouponBirds.
Zoom in: Cleveland certainly does its part with a bevy of Halloween events that kick into high gear this weekend:
21 and over
What to expect: Tremont's private speakeasy, The Rosehip Room, brings back its dance party featuring a DJ, cocktails, photo booth and costume contest.
When: 8pm-midnight tonight, $30.
What to expect: Twenty-somethings in costumes flock to West 6th Street for a spooky bar crawl at venues like Ivy, Velvet Dog, Dive Bar and Barley House.
When: 6pm-1:30am tonight, 3-11pm Saturday and 6pm-1:30am Oct. 31. $20+.
What to expect: Drink and food specials, costume contests and more starting at Corner Alley and venturing to bars on and around West 4th Street.
When: 4-10pm Saturday. $10+.
What to expect: Local bands dress up as popular groups Paramore, Weezer and Green Day for a rocking night at the Grog Shop.
When: 7pm Saturday. $12+.
What to expect: Great Lakes Brewing in Ohio City hosts a dance party with a costume contest and door prizes centered around its Nosferatu Double Red IPA.
When: 7pm-midnight Saturday. $5.
What to expect: Lakewood's pub crawl starts at Around the Corner before heading to Harry Buffalo, Lakewood Food Truck Park and other nearby venues.
When: 4-10pm Saturday. $17.
Family fun
What to expect: The Greater Cleveland Aquarium transforms with Halloween decor, costumed divers, and underwater jack-o-lanterns.
When: 5pm-8pm daily through Monday. Tickets are $19.95 for adults and $15.95 for kids.
What to expect: Cleveland Metroparks Zoo's Halloween celebration features costumed characters, trick-or-treat stations and a "Monster Mash" dance party.
When: 10:30am-3pm daily through Sunday. $11.
What to expect: The I-X Center's trick-or-treating event with bubble soccer, princess sing-alongs, kiddie rides and more is for kids ages 10 and under.
When: 11am-7pm Saturday, 11am-6pm Sunday. $16+.
