Iron Maiden still on the outside looking in with the Rock Hall

Driving the news: Iron Maiden leads the year-round poll conducted at a kiosk on the museum's Hall of Fame floor.

Yes, but: Unlike the annual online Fan Vote, the in-person poll doesn't count as an official vote for the Hall of Fame.

Between the lines: Iron Maiden was nominated for induction in 2021 and 2023.

• Ultimate Classic Rock recently asked if Maiden will be inducted before Taylor Swift, a sure-fire inductee who becomes eligible in 2031.

Flashback: Only three heavy metal artists have been voted into the Rock Hall — Black Sabbath in 2006, Metallica in 2009 and Ozzy Osbourne this year.

• Guitarist Randy Rhodes and Judas Priest received the awards for Musical Excellence in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

What they're saying: "Mother-flippin' Maiden, dude! Like, that's been on the top of my list for a while," said Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello, a member of the Rock Hall's nominating committee, when asked who he'd like to see inducted in a recent podcast interview.

• "I feel very fortunate that they let me into that room to make my case for the Randy Rhoadses, the KISSes and the Stevie Ray Vaughans, Rushes, Judas Priests and MC5s. But, Maiden? Maiden's next."

💭 My thought bubble: I don't know if Iron Maiden is the biggest snub, but the ban is certainly in the top 10 alongside fellow metal icon Motorhead.
