Huckleberry, a cafe by day and cocktail lounge by night, has quickly become NoDa's hot new hangout spot.
Why it matters: Owners Owen Carter and Michael Angelicola, behind the popular neighborhood dispensary Happy Camper, quietly opened Huckleberry last month which has since drawn large crowds.
Yes, but: Huckleberry doesn't take reservations, and weekend wait times have previously stretched up to three hours.
- To help manage the crowds and give everyone a chance to enjoy the space, they recently launched a daily waitlist you can join.
What to expect: If you manage to snag a table, you'll notice subtle nods to the restaurant name throughout the menu, from the Huckleberry Mule to the jam served with charcuterie boards, both made with huckleberries sourced from Montana.
- Beverage director Sean Teague drew from his chemistry background and experience at local spots like Folia to craft the cocktail menu. Cocktails typically cost around $13–$14, with a few priced at $17–$18. There's also a list of wines and nonalcoholic options.
- During the day, the café operates Thursday through Sunday from 8am-3pm with a small menu serving coffee from Night Swim, tea and a few pastries from Fralinger Baking Company.
- Food options in the evening include charcuterie boards featuring meats and cheeses from Orrman's Cheese Shop, plus desserts from other local partners like Seemingly Overzealous and Pizza Baby.
- The team plans to eventually expand the menu with small bites like focaccia, burrata and bagel service.

The vibe: The 1913 home along North Davidson Street has been completely renovated inside with design pieces Carter sourced from around the world, like the small cocktail tables from Paris. There's seating for about 50 people indoors and outside there's a patio and wine garden which seats roughly 60 people.
- "When you walk into Huckleberry, you feel like you just teleported," Carter told Axios. But despite the elevated design, he doesn't want the space to feel pretentious. Whether you're dressed in "stilettos and a dress" or stopping by in casual clothes, he wants everyone to feel comfortable.
- They keep things laid back for that neighborhood feel with weekly events like Tuesday bingo at 6:30pm with prized gift cards from local businesses, Wine Wednesdays and almost always have a range of live music on the weekends.

Stop by: Find Huckleberry at 2824 N Davidson St. They are open Tuesday through Wednesday 5-10pm, Thursday 8am-10pm, Friday and Saturday 8am-midnight and Sunday 8am-8pm. Closed Monday.
