American Airlines plans to open its largest Admirals Club at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in early 2028.
Why it matters: CLT is American's second-largest hub. While it has multiple existing lounges at CLT, this will become the airport's largest.
What to expect: The new lounge will be in the airport's atrium on the mezzanine level, spanning more than 40,000 square feet.
- Design for the new lounge will reflect Charlotte's tree canopy, textile history and Southern hospitality.
- Different zones within the lounge will cater to various needs, including spa-style shower suites, food and drinks.
What's next: Construction on the new lounge is scheduled to begin this year and wrap up in 2028.
What we're watching: American also plans to open a high-end Flagship lounge at CLT (timeline TBA). Its existing CLT lounges include Admirals Club locations in Concourse B and Concourse C/D, plus a Provisions in Concourse A.
- The long-term plan is to keep the Provisions and the Admirals Club in B. A timeline for when the C/D Admirals Club will close is TBD.
- Ultimately, American will have four total lounge offerings at CLT.
