Why it matters: Memorial Day weekend marks the start of summer travel.
By the numbers: 1.05 million travelers will make their way through CLT between May 20-26, according to airport officials.
This is roughly an 8% drop compared to the same period last year. Airlines are grappling with high jet fuel prices.
Local traffic, however, is expected to remain steady. Around 202,000 (roughly 38%) of the 531,000 expected passengers departing from CLT will begin their trip in Charlotte.
What to expect: The busiest Memorial Day weekend travel days are expected to be Thursday, May 21, Friday, May 22, and Monday, May 25.
