The Truist Championship tees off this spring at Quail Hollow Club.
Why it matters: It's the dawn of a new era for Charlotte's annual PGA Tour event, with a new title sponsor for one of the city's most popular springtime events.
Catch up quick: Truist became the event's title sponsor in August 2024, replacing Wells Fargo. Now Truist, a Charlotte-based bank, holds the keys to the tournament through 2031.
- Charlotte hosted the PGA Championship, one of golf's four majors, last spring, sending the inaugural Truist Championship temporarily to the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Pennsylvania.
By the numbers: This is a Signature Event where some of the biggest names in the sport will compete for a $20 million purse.
Zoom in: The Tuesday of tournament week, May 5, a statue of legendary golfer Charlie Sifford will be unveiled on the Trail of History in midtown. Sifford, a Charlotte native, was the first Black golfer to play on the PGA Tour. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014.

What to expect: From enhanced hospitality offerings to new public open spaces, this year's event will set the bar for future tournaments. Here's what to expect:
Schedule
The 2026 Truist Championship is May 6-10 at Quail Hollow Club in south Charlotte.
- The first round begins Thursday. The championship round will be Sunday.
- There will be a Truist Championship Tee-off Party at SouthPark's Symphony Park (4400 Sharon Road) on May 7 featuring On the Border Ultimate Eagles Tribute with Ryan & Woody and the United States Navy Band. VIP tickets start at $85.53.
Local vendors
Several local businesses will have a presence at the Truist Championship, including:
- Local apparel brands 704 Shop and Girl Tribe will be in the Fan Shop. The space will be about four times bigger than in previous years, Truist Championship executive director Adam Sperling says.
- Local food vendors include: Inizio, Night Swim Coffee, Two Scoops Creamery, Cowfish, Sabor and Noble Smoke.
Zoom in: Two Scoops has created a special ice cream flavor for the tournament called Purple Parfection. It's a nod to Truist, whose signature color is purple, and par is a golf term (the number of strokes anticipated to complete a hole).
- The ice cream consists of vanilla ice cream, purple marshmallow fluff and chocolate-covered pretzels.

Areas open to the public
There will be three fan zones open to the public:
- The Park between holes 1 and 9 will be more family-friendly.
- The Green Mile Courtyard will be between holes 16 and 18.
- The South End fan zone will be near hole 13, next to the water.
A new trophy
Charlotte-based artist Ivan Toth Depeña created a new trophy — depicting a golf ball about to fall into a hole — for the championship.

Tickets start at $54 on Wednesday and increase to $91 for championship Sunday. Prices will vary throughout the week. See hospitality options here.
