Scoop: Charlotte brands tee up for spotlight at 2026 Truist Championship

Driving the news: The Truist Championship is expected to announce several community initiatives surrounding the tournament later today, including local business collabs.

• The total number of local businesses that will be present at the 2026 Truist Championship is TBD, according to Truist North Carolina West regional president Travis Rhodes.

Catch up quick: Truist became the title sponsor for the tournament in August 2024. The longtime stop on the PGA Tour had previously been called the Wells Fargo Championship.

• This won't be the first time local businesses have been showcased during a springtime golf tournament at Quail Hollow Club in south Charlotte, but it is the start of a new chapter in Charlotte's professional golf journey.

Flashback: Both 704 Shop and Two Scoops were highlighted during the Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow Club in 2022.

• Moxley tells Axios that it was then that he began to cultivate a relationship with the PGA Tour, which operates the Presidents Cup, and new Truist Championship executive director Adam Sperling.
• 704 Shop has also collaborated with a number of other professional sports organizations in Charlotte, including Charlotte FC, the Charlotte Knights, Charlotte Checkers, Carolina Ascent and Anthem Rugby Carolina.
