Mazali is a locally owned Uzbek restaurant inside west Charlotte's City Kitch.
Catch up quick: The small business took over the former DŌZO space last fall, and is the only vendor with seating in the Thrift Road ghost kitchen.
What to expect: Traditional Uzbek fare that's hard to find in Charlotte, like plov, samsas and hand-pulled noodles, plus soups, salads and desserts.
We recently stopped by — here's what we tried:
🥐 Beef samsa, like a flakier empanda, is also available with chicken, pumpkin, or potatoes.
🍛 Beef plov, a rice dish cooked with chickpeas, carrots and spices.
🍜 Guiru Lagman, hand-pulled noodles with stir-fried veggies in a broth.
🍰 Dulcet, layers of shortbread dough, meringue, walnuts, butter and condensed milk cream, topped with coconut flakes.
Stop by: 2200 Thrift Road. Open weekdays only.
