Tap In, a new golf entertainment venue, opens in Lower South End on Thursday, Sept. 4.
Why it matters: Tap In will join a growing number of new entertainment venues in the popular neighborhood, including Beat the Bomb and SupperClub.
Zoom in: Tap In will cater to everyone — not just golf enthusiasts, says owner Miller Safrit, a longtime ESPN creative producer, noting that plenty of businesses already cater to strictly "golf-centric" customers.
- "What we want to introduce here is the opportunity for entertainment, an opportunity for maybe someone new to golf and personalization for our visitors," said Safrit.
What to expect: The 10,000-square-foot facility, in the former Weathered Souls Brewery spot, will have a social putting green at the center of the space that will be surrounded by 10 bays.
- Eight golf bays will offer the option to play on PGA courses and some fantasy options. Each bay, which comes with real golf balls, can be personalized for skill level and offers performance tracking technology to access metrics like launch, carry and spin rate.
- The other two VR bays let you play on thousands of virtual courses with a gaming headset.
- The 500-square-foot putting green space will have games and additional technology that indicates where to aim.

Dig in: Tap In will also have a full bar and kitchen that'll have a casual sports bar-style menu.
- Expect handheld items like bacon-wrapped wagyu skewers, hot honey pepperoni flatbread, wings and appetizers.
- It'll also offer beers on tap from local breweries, a full liquor menu, wine and a list of nonalcoholic options.
If you go: Golf bays can be booked by the hour starting at $49. Pricing will vary based on the time of day and size of the group.
- Memberships will be available a few months after the opening.
Stop by: Tap In will open at 255 Clanton Road, across from State of Confusion. Hours of operation will be 9am–11pm daily.
What's next: They aim to offer weekly glow-in-the-dark night golf and open an additional cocktail lounge within the venue.
