Avelo Airlines, a low-cost airline, will cut six routes from Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA) at the end of the month.
Why it matters: Concord is a cost-effective alternative for those who prefer not to deal with the congestion of a major airport like Charlotte Douglas International.
Context: Avelo began flying out of Concord last May and quickly expanded its presence there with a base and new routes.
"Poor performance indicators" were the reason for route cuts, per an airline spokesperson. "We will still have two planes and up to 50 jobs. The second plane will be used for mostly charters and some commercial service."
Driving the news: Avelo will cut six out of ten routes from Concord at the end of the month, CBJ first reported.
Routes getting cut include:
Albany, N.Y. (ALB)
Daytona Beach, Fla. (DAB)
Lakeland/Orlando, Fla. (LAL)
Nashville, Tenn. (BNA)
Detroit, Mich. (DTW), which was set to begin June 13.
Washington, D.C. - Dulles (IAD), which was set to begin May 23.
The remaining routes will be:
New Haven, C.T. (HVN)
Boston/Manchester, N.H. (MHT)
Rochester, N.Y. (ROC)
New York/Long Island (ISP), which will begin May 22.
