Dairy-free ice cream shop Seemingly Overzealous expanding to Dilworth

Seemingly Overzealous, the popular gluten-, dairy- and egg-free ice cream shop, is expanding to Dilworth.
Why it matters: This is the third location for the locally owned business, which first opened in Camp North End in May 2023 and expanded to Plaza Midwood last year.
Driving the news: The new location will open in late May at 224 East Blvd., next to Sunflour Bakery and near the highly anticipated Leluia Hall.
What to expect: Everything in the shop is homemade and all its products are gluten-, dairy- and egg-free, even its ice cream cones.
- The shop, which is inside an old house, will have a game room filled with classic arcade games.
- At a little under 1,000 square feet, it'll have bar seating, a couple of tables and a small outdoor patio similar to Sunflour Bakery's.
"The experience is important to us," co-owner Garrett Tichy tells Axios. "We want it to be a fun place to be, not only for kids, but adults too."
Between the lines: Seemingly Overzealous is a pandemic success story for Tichy and his wife, Jessica Berresse, who started making ice cream for friends during lockdown.
Dig in: Like its other locations, there'll be 12 flavors available in Dilworth.
- Popular flavors include "i NEEDED SOMEONE TO FEED" (brown sugar cinnamon) and "CAN'T ALL BE COOKiE" (cookies & cream).
The big picture: There's a growing demand for allergy-friendly food in Charlotte.
Case in point: Last month, Seemingly Overzealous hosted a pop-up event with gluten-free bakery The Accidental Baker.
- "We made more during that pop-up before noon than we do on some just full-on weekend Saturdays," Tichy said, adding that Matt Cabana (aka The Accidental Baker) sold out of his nearly 800 baked goods.
- Tichy and Cabana will host more pop-up events once the Dilworth Seemingly Overzealous location opens up.
