Gwen Stefani and Dave Matthews Band have been announced as the headliners for Lovin' Life Music Fest (LLMF), returning to Charlotte May 2-4, 2025.
Why it matters: Benson Boone was announced as a "co-headliner" by event organizers, meaning there's still another headliner and additional artists yet to be announced. Needless to say, we've been speculating.
Between the lines: LLMF kinda needs another big name to headline the festival to compete with last year's lineup and this year's ticket prices.
- Last year, in the festival's inaugural year, headliners included Post Malone, Stevie Nicks and Noah Kahan. Plus, other top acts joined like The Avett Brothers, DaBaby, Maggie Rogers, Dashboard Confessional, The Chainsmokers, and Petey Pablo.
- Tickets are on sale for this year's festival starting at $269 for all three days.
Driving the news: Festival lineups and headliners for more established music festivals like The Governor's Ball, Coachella and Bonnaroo have already been announced.
- LLMF sources tell Axios that additional artists will be announced soon.
Here are our predictions for the big names we'd like to see at the Uptown music festival and why we think they could actually happen.
Hozier
Context: Hozier is headlining The Governor's Ball this upcoming June and it's not unheard of for LLMF headliners to perform at more than one music festival — Post Malone headlined LLMF and Governor's Ball last year.
- According to his tour schedule, Hozier's got nothing scheduled for May yet.
Our thought bubble: We think Hozier will co-headline with Benson Boone. Although Hozier's music genre is more alternative/indie, it blends well with Boone's pop rock.
Tyler, The Creator
Context: Tyler, The Creator and Benson Boone are already co-headlining The Governor's Ball on Friday night. They must have a setlist ready to go that they could copy and paste in Charlotte.
Our thought bubble: One of the biggest critiques from fans last year was the lack of diversity in its headliner lineup. So far this year it's looking pretty similar unless festival organizers surprise us.
Charli XCX
Context: Charli XCX will be at Coachella in April and Primavera in Barcelona in June. What's another festival for this busy pop star?
- She does have some "Brat" tour dates scheduled in May, but is free on Friday, May 2, when LLMF starts.
Our thought bubble: It would be tough for LLMF to have two solo female headliners, but Charli and Benson Boone are some of the hottest up-and-coming artists right now.
Travis Scott
Context: Travis Scott will headline Coachella this year and that's about it, according to his tour schedule. At Coachella, he's slated to kick off a "new chapter" and debut new music.
Our thought bubble: Scott is another huge name that would justify the LLMF ticket prices.
Olivia Rodrigo
Context: Olivia Rodrigo is in her festival era. According to her website, she's performing at 13 music festivals across the world this spring and summer.
Our thought bubble: She's got nothing going on during the month of May tour-wise so she could make a quick stop in Charlotte on any of the LLMF dates.
- Speaking of pop princesses, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan don't have anything publicly lined up in May either, and they're both on tour this summer.
Missy Elliot
Context: Similar to Travis Scott, Missy Elliot doesn't have any tour dates announced besides Coachella this year, which makes us think there are more performances to be announced.
Our thought bubble: So far, the headliners are giving throwback vibes, so Missy Elliot would fit the bill.
Megan Thee Stallion
Context: Megan's got two music festivals booked so far this year — Coachella and Summerfest in Milwaukee. She doesn't have any live performances scheduled in May yet.
Our thought bubble: A Megan Thee Stallion and Benson Boone combo would absolutely rock the city.
