Ace No. 3 will open in Uptown next summer.
Why it matters: The popular joint is home to one of Charlotte's best burgers.
What to expect: The same simple menu of burgers, milkshakes and beer that make the local chain so popular. "We're still committed to our motto and philosophy of 'less is more' and simplicity when it comes to a better burger," co-founder Paul Manley tells Axios.
- The 1,780-square-foot space will have a few seats to dine in and a small patio outside with additional seating but will primarily cater to pick-up and to-go orders.
- Located in the former Sukoshi spot (101 S. Tryon) on the ground-level exterior of One South, the Uptown restaurant will have a pick-up window right on Tryon Street.
"We understand that speed of service is going to be crucial," Manley said, but emphasized that speed won't take away from quality. "We cook everything to order."
Dig in: Ace No.3's menu features three standard burgers and a make-your-own.
- Sides include fries, onion rings, sweet potato tots and cole slaw.
- They have five flavors of shakes and boozy options, where you can add a shot of Crown Apple or Pinnacle Whipped for a sweet buzz.

The big picture: Uptown's food scene is in the midst of a revival as remote workers return to office buildings.
- Most recently, we reported King of Fire Pizza, a popular local food truck, opened its first restaurant in Uptown at The Green.
- Plus, several locally owned restaurants and bars will open at The Alley at Latta Arcade by the end of the year — many already have, like Two Scoops Creamery and The Dumpling Lady.

Flashback: Manley opened the first Ace No. 3 with partners Andrew Chapman and Dennis Thompson (Sea Level, The Waterman) in November 2019 in Charlotte's Belmont neighborhood.
- Its second location opened in Concord Mills in March 2021. Three months later, its third location opened in Myers Park.
"It's time to grow Charlotte's favorite burger brand and what better place than the center of our city," Manley said.
