Mariah's Taco Spot will open its first brick-and-mortar location at The Pass later this year.
Why it matters: Mariah's is the latest tenant to join the quickly growing extension of Noda near Locker Room. It's the same area where the highly anticipated restaurant Soul Gastrolounge will open.
Context: Mariah's started out of City Kitch, a ghost kitchen, where it gained popularity for its oxtail and birria tacos. Owner Mariah Brown later started operating out of the taco truck with weekly pop-ups around the city.
Driving the news: Brown teased the opening in a recent Instagram post — the restaurant's devoted following responded with enthusiasm and support.
- One comment reads: "I've been trying to purchase your tacos for a year. Every festival the line is too long."
What they're saying: "I'm ready to finally expand on what the crowd already loves," Brown said.
The vibe: The new 1,428-square-foot spot will have an indoor bar, plus table and booth seating. The space will have a modern aesthetic similar to its signature hot pink and black food truck.
- It'll also incorporate weekly events that'll feature a live DJ.
Dig in: Expect the same menu that includes its crowd-favorite tacos and wings, plus new items.
- New additions include desserts like strawberry crunch churros and cookies.
- Mariah's will have around seven cocktails, including margaritas and smoked old fashions.
What's next: Mariah's Taco Spot aims to open later this fall at 4090 Raleigh St. It'll be open Tuesday through Sunday and stay open until midnight on the weekends.
