Sneak, a new cocktail lounge-meets-speakeasy, will open in Elizabeth's Pecan Point shopping center Friday, April 5. And no, you don't need a password to get in.
Why it matters: Sneak is the latest addition to the area's growing food and drink scene, which has seen places like Catalina Kitchen and Bar and Mexican restaurant Puerta open in the last year.
The vibe: It's a "sneak-easy," in other words, a cozy cocktail lounge offering a twist on classic cocktails. There are aspects of a speakeasy, like hidden doors and dim lighting, without being completely shrouded in secrecy.
- Inside, there's a main cocktail bar with about a dozen seats and a couch along the back wall with a few tables. Eventually, there'll be a patio out front.
- Sneak will also have a music program that's "focused on hip hop (and) R&B curated by local DJs," owner Jamil Whitlow tells Axios.
What to expect: Open until 2am on the weekends, Sneak wants to be the neighborhood's go-to spot for late-night drinks, whether you're grabbing a pre-dinner aperitif or winding down after dinner elsewhere.
- The menu features 11 craft cocktails, wine, beer and seltzer, plus non- alcoholic versions of each.
What to try: A glance at the cocktail menu will show quite a few unconventional drinks. The most unusual we tried include the "Don't Shy Away," a spicy carrot margarita ($16), the "Prowler in The Night," ($17) a vodka cocktail with sour Coke foam and "Slinking to Sicily" an Italian spritz mocktail garnished with a sprig of smoked Rosemary ($13).
- Guests will also find a few bar bites — like fresh focaccia, a mousse bar and — notably — $109 D'artagnan caviar.
Fun fact: The menu shows the glassware each cocktail will be served in.

If you go: Sneak is walk-in only. It's at 2001 E 7th St. Suite F in Elizabeth (next to Bang Bang Burgers).
- Hours of operation are Monday-Wednesday from 4pm-midnight, Thursday-Friday 4pm-2am, Saturday 2pm-2am and Sunday 2pm-midnight.
