Garth Brooks has a second date at Bank of America Stadium — July 15.
What’s happening: Earlier this month, Brooks announced a new date for his long-awaited stop in Charlotte, July 16, and now he’ll perform on July 15 at 7pm at Bank of America Stadium too.
- This comes after rescheduling the show several times throughout the pandemic.
- It will be the country star’s first performance in Charlotte in 24 years and his first at Bank of America Stadium.
Why it matters: Brooks was originally scheduled to perform in Charlotte on May 2, 2020. 74,000 tickets sold out in 90 minutes, making it the largest paid audience in Bank of America Stadium at the time, according to his website.
- That concert was eventually rescheduled (four times!) and then canceled.
What’s next: Tickets go on sale at 10 am on March 25. Buy via Ticketmaster.
The big picture: When David Tepper bought the Carolina Panthers in July 2018, he made it clear Bank of America Stadium would be home to more than just football.
- Tepper Sports and Entertainment has since added a Major League Soccer team, which kicked off this year, plus a number of concerts.
- Last year, The Rolling Stones performed at Bank of America Stadium, and somehow everyone missed Mick F—ing Jagger at the Thirsty Beaver.
- Upcoming artists at Bank of America Stadium include Billy Joel and Kenny Chesney, the latter is a sore spot for Jimmy Buffett fans who have to choose which concert to go to in Charlotte on April 30.
The bottom line: Spring and summertime in Charlotte are heating up as everyone gets back out there.
- We recommend a seat in the shade for Garth.
Editor’s note: This story was updated on March 25 to reflect the additional concert date.
