Charlotte fans forced to choose between Kenny Chesney and Jimmy Buffett

Kenny Chesney and Jimmy Buffett perform in Charlotte on the same day, and fans don’t want to choose between their concerts.

Country music star Chesney and Margaritaville legend Jimmy Buffett have shows in Charlotte on April 30 at Bank of America Stadium and PNC Music Pavilion respectively.

  • Driving the news: Tickets for Chesney’s show go on sale to the general public this Friday, Nov. 12, and some people aren’t sure which beach vibe to choose.

Why it matters: As fan Jillian Goetz told Axios via email, it’s No Shoes Nation vs. Parrot Heads, but what if you’re both?

  • She and her husband have had their Buffett tickets since before the pandemic.
  • “I feel like I have to be loyal to those tickets since it was rescheduled approximately 4 times,” Jillian told Axios. “It’s a decision I thought I’d never have to make – why should you ever have to choose between Jimmy and Kenny??”
  • Her perfect solution would be Chesney’s team rescheduling, since Buffett’s concert has been rescheduled five times.

My thought bubble: Jillian, we appreciate your faith in our newsroom being able to convince Chesney’s team to reschedule his concert. Kenny, if you’re reading this, you would make Jillian’s day if you could reschedule.

If you really want to, you could try both.

  • Chesney starts at 5 pm.
  • Buffett begins at 8 pm.
  • Jillian and her husband are first-time parents, their son was born on Oct. 1, and they thought about trying to attend both concerts, before they learned the concerts were the same night.
  • “I’m sure you can understand the horror I felt after learning these two country/beach power houses were on the same night. But can we possibly attend both concerts?” she told Axios.

Crazy thoughts, she said, raced through her mind.

  • “Chauffeur a car between PNC and BOA and hit the first half of Jimmy and second half of Kenny?? Is that a logistical nightmare? So many questions about such an important decision. And I thought my only decisions these days would be about keeping our one month year old son alive.”
  • What do you think Jillian should do?

Tickets start at $37 for Buffett and $80 for Chesney.

Of note: COVID-19 precautions will be in place.

  • To attend the Buffett concert, you must have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours or be fully vaccinated, receiving your second shot two weeks prior to the concert. A negative COVID-19 test must be provided for kids under age 12 within 72 hours of the concert. Masks will be encouraged.
  • Masks will be required indoors on the 300 and 400 levels at Bank of America Stadium.

My thought bubble: I’m listening to Buffett’s Cheeseburger in Paradise as I write this. 🎶 “When I’m in port, I get what I need.” 🎶
