A rally is scheduled Saturday in Austin as part of a nationwide No Kings Day of Nonviolent Action.
Why it matters: Organizers say more than 3,000 events are planned across the country to protest Trump administration policies on immigration, foreign policy and the economy.
No Kings protests are also scheduled in Dallas and Houston.
It's the third No Kings protest in Austin. Thousands gathered at the Texas Capitol in June and October to rally against the Trump administration.
The big picture: National organizers say turnout could surpass last year's events, which drew about 5 million people in June and 7 million in October.
What they're saying: "America is at an inflection point," American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten said, citing economic hardship and fear among communities.
What to watch: Gov. Greg Abbott deployed the Texas National Guard ahead of last June's protests. It's unclear whether he'll take similar measures this weekend.
