First lady Melania Trump offered a rare assessment of President Trump's second term in an interview with Fox News Wednesday morning, saying the president is "doing the best that he can."
Why it matters: Her comments come as Trump faces weak approval ratings and voter dissatisfaction over the Iran war, the economy and other priorities ahead of the midterms.
What she's saying: Fox News anchor Brian Kilmeade asked Melania Trump what the president does differently now compared with his first term.
- "He's very focused. He has a lot on his plate. It's very different what's going on around the world now. But I think he's doing the best that he can."
- "He works nonstop. He has the most energy than anybody. He's from morning until evening, nonstop working."
Zoom out: The interview comes during an unusually high-profile week for the first lady, who is stepping into the spotlight for a packed slate of diplomatic and other events.
