Rogan blasts Trump's "Gestapo": Here's what the podcaster said about immigration

Driving the news: Rogan said on his show Tuesday that he understands concerns that "We shouldn't have militarized groups of people roaming the streets, just showing up with masks on, snatching people up."

• He added that many people detained by ICE appear to be U.S. citizens.
• "Are we really going to be the Gestapo? Where's your papers? Is that what we've come to?"
• The White House did not immediately respond to Axios' request for comment.

Zoom in: Rogan said the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Minneapolis mother Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent was a "terrible tragedy."

• "It just seemed all kinds of wrong to me," he said to Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.). "It's also very ugly to watch someone shoot a U.S. citizen, especially a woman, in the face."
• Though Rogan said from his perspective, Good appeared to be trying to turn her car away from the agent — not toward him.
• Despite demands from local and state leaders to probe the ICE agent who killed Good, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said Tuesday there's "currently no basis for a criminal civil rights investigation."

This isn't the first time Rogan has criticized Trump's immigration efforts. Here's what he's said in the past:

• In April 2025, Rogan warned his listeners about "people who are not criminals ... getting lassoed up and deported and sent to El Salvador prisons."

• In July, he called ICE raids at work sites and locations like Home Depot "insane."
• During an August podcast episode with Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), Rogan said ICE was "freaking people out," noting that many imagined agents targeting gang members — not the "landscaper."
• Rogan, in a December episode with Josh Dubin, executive director of the Perlmutter Center for Legal Justice at Cardozo Law, compared ICE detentions to speeding ticket quotas, suggesting the administration has "numbers that they want to achieve."
