Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) drove the most search engine attention this year compared to her fellow House members, according to data from Google Trends.
Why it matters: AOC has long known how to capture America's attention. This year's interest comes as her team has been preparing for a future Senate or presidential run, as Axios has reported.
Zoom in: AOC had the top spot in the House while Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) had the most Google interest in the Senate. The two spent much of the year campaigning together for their "Fighting Oligarchy" tour.
The young progressive star was followed by the longest-serving House leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), with the greatest spike in search volume coinciding with Pelosi's retirement announcement last month.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett's (D-Tex.) comments toward Elon Musk, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) and FBI Director Kash Patel — as well as her decision to run for Senate — led her to being the third most-searched for House member.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is also no stranger to media attention. She came in fourth in a year which saw her feuding with President Trump over everything from Gaza to Epstein and announcing a surprise retirement from the House.
