No "path" for third Trump term, House Speaker Johnson says

• The president declined to conclusively rule out another term Monday, instead saying he would "love to do it."

State of play: Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon last week reignited the conversation about Trump violating presidential term limits, telling the Economist there was a "plan" to keep Trump in office for a third term.

• "At the appropriate time, we'll lay out what the plan is," Bannon said in the interview.

In contrast, Johnson told reporters Tuesday that he finds a third term unlikely due to the constitutional hurdles.

• "It's been a great run, but I think the president knows, and he and I've talked about, the constrictions of the Constitution," Johnson told reporters during a press conference.
• Trump has "a good time with that trolling the Democrats, whose hair is on fire by the very prospect," Johnson said. "But I do believe that we've got three extraordinary years ahead of us."
