Vice President JD Vance will host a Monday episode of "The Charlie Kirk Show" as a tribute to slain the MAGA activist who was a key ally and friend of Trump administration officials.
The big picture: The killing of Kirk, the Turning Point USA co-founder and the millennial face of MAGA's youth movement, has rocked American politics, sparking calls for unity and further aggravating partisan tensions.
- Members of the administration and lawmakers honored Kirk at a Kennedy Center vigil Sunday.
Driving the news: "Tomorrow, I will have the honor of hosting the Charlie Kirk Show," Vance wrote in a Sunday post. "Please join me as I pay tribute to my friend."
- He said the episode would air Monday at noon ET.
Zoom out: Vance, in an X post shared Wednesday, remembered Kirk as a "true friend" who advocated for him to become President Trump's running mate.
- The vice president and second lady Usha Vance accompanied Kirk's family to Phoenix, Arizona, last week, transporting his casket aboard Air Force Two.
