Barrasso PAC launches new ads in Ohio, Florida Senate races

A PAC aligned with Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) is going up with new ads Monday bolstering GOP senators in Ohio and Florida, Axios has learned.

Why it matters: The group will spend half a million dollars between the two states. It's another sign of Republican leaders moving early to try to sway voters ahead of next year's midterm elections.

Sens. Ashley Moody (R-Fla.) and Jon Husted (R-Ohio) are freshman who were appointed to their seats this year and face re-election in 2026.
Husted now faces a serious Democratic challenger in former Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio).

Zoom out: The Barrasso-linked Senate Opportunity Fund is jumping into the brewing ad wars, hoping to sway voters early as President Trump's "big beautiful bill" continues polling poorly.

They will launch digital video ads as well as streaming and radio ads, according to a source familiar with the plans. The group sees it as the start of a long-term effort to hit top policy issues ahead of the midterms.
The group has already begun spending money on ads in Alaska to boost Sen. Dan Sullivan and in Georgia to attack Democratic Sen. John Ossoff over taxes.
