Brown University and Trump administration strike deal to restore funding

• The college was among about 60 colleges the administration had threatened to cut funds to during its discrimination probes and Brown's deal follows similar settlements with other schools, including Columbia University.

Driving the news: Brown has agreed to "pay $50 million in grants over 10 years to workforce development organizations in Rhode Island," per a statement from the school.

• Under the agreement, the college will be reimbursed for more than $50 million in unpaid federal grant costs.
• Meanwhile, the college will address administration requirements for "male" and "female" definitions for athletics and on-campus housing, as well as limits on gender-affirming care," according to the statement.
• "The agreement does not include any payments or fines to the federal government," the statement noted.
• "The University agreed we will not maintain any program that promotes "unlawful efforts to achieve race-based outcomes, quotas, diversity targets or similar efforts."
