Starbucks' pumpkin spice latte will have later launch this year

• But the latte's actual launch date is four days later than last year's, and marks the latest release since 2022.

The big picture: The pumpkin spice craze was born 23 years ago, when Starbucks debuted its Pumpkin Spice Latte — PSL for short — in 2003.

• Seasonal drinks and limited-time menus have driven sales and traffic for the company in the past.
• Starbucks said Monday that its pumpkin spice creamers and coffee are now available in grocery stores across the country, and in early August ready-to-drink beverages will return to stores, including convenience stores.

Between the lines: With Summerween — where Halloween meets the summer heat — starting earlier this year, pumpkin products are already showing up in stores.

• Danone North America told Axios its products are starting come back to stores in July, including STōK Pumpkin Cold Brew, Dunkin' Pumpkin Munchkin Creamer and International Delight products.
• Chobani's pumpkin yogurts and coffee creamers will also return this month, and Death Wish Coffee's limited-edition Pumpkin Chai is coming back Aug. 1.

What's next: Starbucks gave a sneak peek at the upcoming fall menu in its announcement.

• The Pumpkin Spice Latte, which is made with real pumpkin, will return along with the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai and Pecan Crunch Oatmilk Latte.
• A new Pecan Oatmilk Cortado and new Italian Sausage Egg Bites will also join the seasonal menu on Aug. 26.
