Congressman's speech freeze-up blamed on medication reaction

Driving the news: Just under four minutes into spirited remarks accusing the Trump administration of wanting to cut Social Security, Larson suddenly went silent for several seconds.

• Larson continued to speak at a slower cadence but ran out of time and was not able to finish what was meant to be a five-minute speech.
• He did not participate in either of the two House votes held Monday night, according to the House clerk's office.

What they're saying: "Congressman Larson appreciates the well wishes from everyone who has reached out," the Connecticut Democrat's office said in a statement provided to Axios.

• "This afternoon, he had what was likely an adverse reaction to a new medication and is having tests administered by the House Attending Physician out of an abundance of caution," the statement said.
• Larson was "alert and engaged" during multiple subsequent meetings and "remains in touch with his staff and in good spirits," it added.
