Key GOP senator will vote for Tulsi Gabbard

Sen. Todd Young (R-Ind.) will support Tulsi Gabbard's confirmation for director of national intelligence, he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Why it matters: Young was the key remaining swing vote ahead of the Senate Intel Committee vote.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) announced on Monday that she'll support Gabbard.
"It would befit you and be helpful for the way you're perceived by members of the Intelligence Committee" to say Edward Snowden harmed national security," Young told Gabbard at her confirmation hearing last week.
Gabbard repeatedly refused to call Snowden a traitor at the hearing.

Zoom in: Young posted a letter from Gabbard spelling out commitments he requested from her.

They primarily focus on promising not to seek a pardon for Snowden, updates to Senate Intel on her foreign travel and a promise to work with the committee to reauthorize Section 702 of FISA.
She also promised to work to prevent and seek justice against intel community leakers.
