Subway, McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell, KFC and Checkers are leaning into new value meals to kick off the new year.
Why it matters: Restaurant chains are continuing last year's big themes of value and affordability in 2025 to entice consumers to eat out.
- Last week Dunkin' unveiled a new winter menu and a $5 meal deal.
Taco Bell adds deals, new boxes coming soon
The latest: Taco Bell announced Tuesday that it launched exclusive deals for its loyalty members through Jan. 13 in a promotion called "Manifestmas Rewards."
- It also has a Delivery Lover's Pass available through Jan. 12 for $5, which "gives fans 30 days of $0 delivery fees."
What's next: The chain is adding new value boxes starting Jan. 16 that cost $5, $7 and $9.
- The Luxe Craving Boxes will be available through early June and have four to five items.
Subway unveils new daily deals, new subs
Subway announced the launch of the Meal of the Day menu Monday with a different special each day of the week.
- For $6.99, get a six-inch sub with a choice of two cookies or a bag of chips and a small fountain drink. For $9.99, get a footlong sub with the drink, cookies or bag of chips.
- The chain also announced two new subs — the Baja Bliss Collection — that feature its Baja Chipotle sauce. The subs are made with chicken or turkey.
What they're saying: Doug Fry, Subway North America president, said in a statement that the new Meal of the Day showcases the company's "definition of value — where you shouldn't have to sacrifice quality for an affordable price."

Subway's Meal of the Day menu schedule, available for a limited time at participating locations nationwide, is:
- Monday: Cold Cut Combo
- Tuesday: All-Pro Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki
- Wednesday: Meatball Marinara

- Friday: Tuna
- Saturday: The Ultimate B.M.T.

McDonald's McValue menu launches Tuesday
McDonald's introduces its new value platform dubbed "McValue" in its U.S. restaurants starting Tuesday.
- There are national deals as well as local and app offers as part of the McValue menu.
The chain said Tuesday it was partnering with John Cena to celebrate the McValue news.
- Cena says in a news release that "there's nothing like heading to McDonald's after completely crushing your day."
- "The fact that fans can mix and match with the new McValue menu to get great deals on the food they love is going to be an absolute game-changer," Cena said.
McDonald's $5 meal deal part of McValue menu
The new value menu includes the $5 meal deal, which McDonald's first launched last summer and has been extended through summer 2025.
- The meal includes a choice of a sandwich (McDouble or McChicken), small fries, four-piece Chicken McNuggets and a small soft drink.
- The McDouble meal option "may be priced at $6 at select restaurants," the company said.
McValue meals: Buy One, Get One for $1
Zoom in: There are eight menu items on the new "Buy One, Add One for $1" offer, four for breakfast and four for lunch and dinner.
How it works: Buy one full-priced menu item from the McValue menu and add one more item from the menu for $1.
- McValue breakfast items: Sausage McMuffin, Sausage Biscuit, Sausage Burrito and Hash Browns.
- McValue lunch and dinner menu items: 6-piece Chicken McNuggets, Double Cheeseburger, McChicken and small fries.
Wendy's 2 for $7 deal
Wendy's announced a new "2 for $7 deal"available through March 2 with 16 different menu combos.
- Eligible items include the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Dave's Single, Classic Chicken Sandwich and 10-piece Chicken Nuggets.
Checkers and Rally's add new two for $4 burgers
Checkers and Rally's added two new "bacon-loaded burgers" Monday that are two for $4 at most locations.
- There's the new BLT Burger and Honey BBQ Bacon Burger, which are both available for at participating locations, while supplies last.
- Pricing may vary, the company said on its website, and in some markets the deal is two for $5.
KFC adds $5 bowls
KFC introduced a lineup of $5 "flavor-packed bowls" Monday and brought back its Nashville Hot Sauce, while supplies last.
- The bowls include Nashville Hot Loaded Fries Bowl, Nashville Hot Mac & Cheese Bowl, Nashville Hot Famous Bowl, Mac & Cheese Bowl and its "Famous Bowl."
- The Korean BBQ Mac & Cheese Bowl and Korean BBQ Loaded Fries Bowl are also available for $5 as digital exclusives, the chain said.
