Starbucks is ringing in 2025 with a few menu changes, including the addition of the Cortado to its lineup of espresso drinks.
Why it matters: The winter menu launch Friday comes months after the coffee giant announced plans to simplify its offerings.
- Starbucks got rid of its Oleato olive oil drinks and stopped charging its nondairy milk fee in early November.
The big picture: With the holidays behind us, restaurants are switching seasonal menus to winter and Valentine's Day.
- Dunkin' released its winter menu featuring its new espresso drink with Sabrina Carpenter on New Year's Eve.
- Chick-fil-A is bringing back its Key Lime seasonal beverages on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Starbucks Cortado
Driving the news: The Cortado made with steamed whole milk along with the Brown Sugar Oatmilk Cortado arrive at participating U.S. Starbucks Friday and join the permanent menu.
- Both have three ristretto shots of Starbucks Blonde Espresso and are only served hot in a short, 8-ounce size.
- The Cortado originates from Spain and is traditionally "small in size and strong in flavor," Starbucks said.
Between the lines: Starbucks said the Cortado has been a requested item from customers in South Florida and Chicago.
- Starbucks told Axios that it tested the drinks in both markets ahead of the national rollout.
Starbucks winter menu 2024
Zoom in: Starbucks announced it is adding a vegan Spicy Falafel Pocket, Valentine Cake Pop and new winter merchandise to stores starting Friday, while supplies last.
- The Pistachio Cream Cold Brew, Pistachio Latte and the Vanilla Bean Custard Danish return to the menu for a limited time.
- Customers will also be able to adjust "the level of sweetness in Starbucks matcha beverages," the company said.
Dunkin' winter menu features Sabrina Carpenter drink
Dunkin' introduced "Sabrina's Brown Sugar Shakin' Espresso" as part of its winter menu along with a new campaign "Shake That Ess.'"
- The limited-time iced beverage has Dunkin's espresso with "brown sugar notes, and oatmilk, shaken to perfection," the company said.
- Dunkin' also released a new $5 Meal Deal, Lava Cake Signature Latte, Lava Cake Coffee and Chocolate Whoopie Pie Specialty Donut.
Chick-fil-A Key Lime beverages coming Jan. 7
What's next: Chick-fil-A announced Thursday that its Grilled Spicy Deluxe Sandwich and Key Lime seasonal beverages return Jan. 7.
- The drinks include the Key Lime Frosted Lemonade and the Key Lime Lemonade.
