Expect to find a limited number of restaurants open today for Christmas.
The big picture: Major chains including Chili's, Taco Bell, Chipotle, Olive Garden and Outback Steakhouse are closed for the holiday while many McDonald's, Wendy's, Starbucks and Dunkin' are open Wednesday.

Restaurants open on Christmas Day 2024
The following national restaurant chains have select locations open Wednesday, but many locations will be closed and some will operate with limited menus.

- Denny's
- Domino's: The store locator website includes Christmas hours and restaurant closings.
- Golden Corral
- Hooters
- Huddle House: Hours vary but many open from 6am until 10pm.
- IHOP
- Papa John's
- Perkins: Participating locations open from 7am to 10pm.
- Red Lobster: Special holiday hours from 11am to 9pm Wednesday.
- TGI Fridays
- Waffle House
Between the lines: You can also find restaurants accepting Christmas reservations through OpenTable.
- Locally owned and regional chains will also be open Christmas as will some restaurants located in hotels and rest stops.
Food delivery like DoorDash popular on Christmas
Zoom in: With few restaurants open, it's still expected to be a big day for food delivery.
- DoorDash said Christmas was the busiest day of 2023 for food delivery based on the average number of deliveries with DoorDash per open restaurant location.
- Uber Eats, Gopuff and Instacart also will be delivering Christmas but what's available to order depends on what stores and restaurants are open on the holiday.
Fast food restaurants open Christmas: McDonald's, Wendy's and more
Opening on Christmas is often a franchise decision, so expect many locations to be closed Wednesday.

Are Starbucks and Dunkin' open Christmas 2024?
Many Starbucks and Dunkin' are open for Christmas, but some locations will be closed.

Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, Taco Bell closed Christmas 2024
Between the lines: All Taco Bell and Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed Christmas.
- Chipotle Mexican Grill and all Darden restaurants — including Olive Garden — also are closed for the holiday.
- Many restaurants that serve holiday catering meals including Bob Evans and Cracker Barrel are closed on Christmas.
