Jeffries sticks with his campaign chief for 2026 elections

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Friday announced that he is reappointing Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.) as chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Why it matters: It is a sign of House Democrats' confidence in their 2024 election showing even as they try to force out some of their oldest committee chairs.

Since Nov. 5, House Democrats have been touting the fact that they largely outperformed Vice President Kamala Harris.
Unlike Senate Democrats, House Democrats picked up seats and reduced Republicans to a bare thin House majority.

What they're saying: "In 2024, House Democrats defied political gravity amid a difficult national environment," Jeffries said in a statement.

"It's my honor to re-appoint Congresswoman Suzan DelBene to guide us to victory," he said, arguing that she "recruited top-tier candidates who ... overperformed expectations on an otherwise disappointing night at the top of the ticket."
DelBene, in a statement, said she will put in "the work to recruit quality candidates, support our battle-tested incumbents, and hold Republicans accountable for their chaos."
