Russian sources target several polling places with non-credible bomb threats

• The FBI said in a statement Tuesday it is aware of bomb threats to polling locations in several states, "many of which appear to originate from Russian email domains."
• The agency's statement added, "Election integrity is among the FBI's highest priorities."

Driving the news: A judge ruled Tuesday afternoon for several precincts to remain open until 7:58pm ET, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

• There were at least ten threats in Georgia alone, per the Washington Post, several of which were in closely watched Fulton County.

Four public polling places in Arizona's Navajo County received similar threats, Secretary of State Adrian Fontes said in a press update.

• A Maricopa County Superior Court building, which houses the county recorder's office, was also the target of a threat Tuesday evening.
• The county sheriff's office spokesperson, Sgt. Calbert Gillett, said it will investigate but "there is no credible information to this issue."

Officials are also investigating at least two unfounded threats in Philadelphia.

• Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner referenced the FBI's report but did not say outright that the Philadelphia threat stemmed from Russian sources.

What they're saying: NAACP president Derrick Johnson emphasized that these intimidation tactics should not obstruct the democratic process.

• The group and its Georgia state conference had been urging state election officials to extend hours there as the threats targeted disproportionately Black voters.
• "The right to vote is sacred," he said. "No individual or foreign entity should be able to undermine the voices of Black Georgians."
