The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised $30.3 million in September, leaving House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) with nearly $50 million in cash on hand on Oct. 1 to capture the majority.
Why it matters: The DCCC's strong number is yet another indication that Democrats are swimming in cash in the campaign's final weeks.
- Party leaders look at the percentage of grassroots donors, more than 50%, as evidence their side is energized about the party's chances on Nov. 5.
- Of the $70.1 million the DCCC collected in the third quarter, $35.6 million came from grassroots donors, according to people familiar with the matter.
- September's numbers bring the DCCC's total haul for the cycle to $280.9 million, a new record for the group.
- The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has yet to report its September numbers.
What they are saying: "Democrats have the money, message and momentum to take back the House and vacate the do-nothing, extreme MAGA Republican majority," Jeffries told Axios in a statement.
- "Over the next 18 days, Democrats will deploy our record-breaking fundraising haul to critical battleground districts, communicate our positive vision to everyday Americans and hold far-right extremists accountable."
- "We are out-raising, out-organizing, and out-running House Republicans," said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene in a statement.
Zoom out: In the presidential, Senate and House contests, Democrats are outspending Republicans across the country. It's been a trend that has persisted for most of the cycle.
- Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign has raised over $1 billion into her various accounts.
- The outside super PAC supporting her, Future Forward, is up to spending some $75 million a week in the campaign's final weeks, out of a budget that is expected to top $350 million.
- The Democrats' main Senate super PAC raised $119 million in the third quarter, compared to the GOP's $114.5 million.
Zoom in: House Democrats in races rated as "Toss-up," "Lean Democrat" or "Lean Republican" by Cook Political Report brought in an average of nearly $2 million in that three-month period, according to Federal Election Commission filings.
- By contrast, Republicans in those 43 districts raised an average of just under $800,000, and all but two were out-raised by their Democratic foes.
Flashback: Last month, the DCCC out-raised the NRCC $22.3 million to $9.7 million.
- The Democratic group has brought in more money than its GOP counterpart in the last six quarters of the cycle.
