Amazon's longtime logistics chief raises $100 million for new startup

• Clark left Amazon in 2022 after more than 20 years to become CEO of Flexport. He was ousted last fall by the company's founder.

State of play: Clark tells Axios that there's tons of niche supply chain software that usually gets rolled into Excel. His goal is to get that "mishmash of data" into a single pool and then create a semantic layer for analysis.

• Seattle-based Auger is building out its team, but also will look to make acquisitions and aqui-hires.

What he's saying: "At Amazon we learned the power of having end-to-end systems, but mostly spent time with the biggest sellers or the long tail of really small sellers," Clark explains.

• "At Flexport I got to meet lots of midmarket enterprise companies, and we thought we could build it for them but it wasn't really right coming out of a freight company. This is a solvable problem and now we want to solve it."
